A rabbit’s foot, a horseshoe and Greg Myers: all brought good luck wherever they went. A good fielder and a stern guardian of the basepaths, Myers went to the post-season with four of the six clubs he played with. His solid if unspectacular play made him perfect for a reserve role, since the lefty’s inconsistent and none-to-powerful bat kept him out of the everyday lineup. At his best he hit .286 for the Minnesota Twins in 1997, but at his worst he dropped to .224 for the Oakland Athletics in 2001. Myers endured an injury-filled career, making ten trips to the disabled list during his major-league service.
