John Cangelosi

The 5’8″ Cangelosi was the surprise of the White Sox 1986 spring camp when he displaced Rudy Law and Daryl Boston to win the centerfield job. The spunky switch-hitter drew walks and stole 50 bases, an AL rookie record. But a 0-for-31 drought dropped his average below .230, and he was benched. Dealt to Pittsburgh in 1987, he batted .275, mostly pinch-hitting, and on September 15 he became the first Pirate in 21 years to steal home. After his last year with the Pirates in 1990, Cangelosi bounced in and out of the major leagues, playing for the Rangers, Mets and Astros. Finally in 1997, he joined the Marlins and was a part of the 1997 World Series championship team.
