When the Giants John McGraw wanted a Jewish star and needed a second baseman to replace Rogers Hornsby, Cohen got the nod, but his .294 in 1929 couldn’t compare with Hornsby. Cohen managed in the minors and coached for the Phillies, acting as manager for one game in 1960. Brother Sid pitched briefly for Washington.
