Chris Codiroli

Codiroli was Detroit’s first pick in the 1978 June draft, but was plagued by elbow problems and released in 1981. Signed by the A’s, he led Oakland with 12 wins as a rookie in 1983. Using a three-quarters and sometimes sidearm delivery, he worked painfully slowly, and was viewed as lacking confidence. He was demoted twice in 1984, but, working faster, came back in 1985 to go 14-14 and tie for the AL lead with 37 starts. His 1986 season was ended by elbow surgery, and, let go after 1987, he hooked on with Cleveland.
