Ed Crane

As a rookie outfielder/catcher in 1884, Crane ranked second in the Union Association with 12 HR. By 1888 he had completed a transition to pitcher, and in 1891 led the American Association with a 2.45 ERA for Cincinnati/Milwaukee. Crane enjoyed only one winning season, and twice lost more than 20 games. He committed suicide by drinking acid.
