Dick Nallin

Nallin was the first umpire to call no-hitters in consecutive appearances behind the plate. On May 5, 1917 in St. Louis, he called a 1-0 no-hitter by the Browns’ Ernie Koob against the White Sox. The next day he went behind the plate for the second game of a doubleheader between the same two clubs, and Bob Groom no-hit Chicago 3-0. Five years later in 1922, he was the plate umpire when Charlie Robertson of the White Sox threw a perfect game against the Tigers.
