Fred Nicholson

Over a 10-year period, Nicholson was the property of 11 clubs in eight leagues. In 1920 he hit .360 in part-time duty for the Pirates, with NL highs of 12 pinch hits and 38 pinch at-bats. That winter the Texan was traded with Billy Southworth, Walter Barbare, and $15,000 for Boston’s Rabbit Maranville. Nicholson was in the military in 1918.
