Hiromitsu Ochai

Ochai and Leron Lee became one of the top slugging duos in Lotte Orions history. Ochai won Japan’s Pacific League triple crown in 1982, hitting .367 with 32 homers and 99 RBI. He collected a second triple crown in 1985, again hitting .367, with 52 HR and a Japanese baseball record 146 RBI – more than one per game. He followed with 50 HR, 116 RBI, and a .364 average for a third triple crown in 1986, but was traded interleague to the Chunichi Dragons for 1987. His $812,500 contract made him the highest-paid Japanese player ever.
