No relation to the great Gil Hodges, Ron roomed with Gil Hodges, Jr., in the minor leagues. A reliable backup catcher and lefthanded pinch hitter, Ron’s patience at the plate allowed him to draw enough walks to make him more effective than his BA indicated. He caught a career-high 96 games in 1983.
