Johnny Gorsica

Gorsica started out playing first base, but made the Tigers in 1940 after just two seasons as a pitcher. Relying on an overhand sinkerball, he both started and relieved. Provided great relief work in 1940 WS, going 4.2 innings in Game Two, 6.2 innings in Game Six after starters were knocked out. Both games were losses, but he compiled a 0.79 ERA.
