Sammy Ellis

Commenting on the 1965 season, when he went 22-10 for Cincinnati, Ellis said, “The Reds scored a lot of runs for me. I thought the year before was a better year (10-3) as far as being an asset to the team.” In subsequent seasons, his blazing fastball and dancing knuckleball were weakened by arm problems. Ellis later became a Yankee pitching coach.
