Nick Etten

Upon being dealt to the Yanks in 1943 after two seasons with the lowly Phillies, Etten exclaimed, “Imagine a man in that environment hearing that he had been sold to the Yankees!” The lefthanded batter thrived briefly in Yankee pinstripes, leading the AL with 22 HR and 97 bases on balls in 1944, and with 111 RBI the following year.
