Hub Perdue

Perdue was 16-13 for the 1913 Braves. After a 2-5 beginning the next year, he was traded to the Cardinals, thus missing Boston’s “Miracle” finish in 1914. His odd nickname came from famous sportswriter Grantland Rice as a combination of Perdue’s hometown (Gallatin, Tennessee) and the vegetable called Hubbard squash.
