Mark DeRosa

A career minor-leaguer, DeRosa failed to stick with the Atlanta Braves in several brief trials from 1998 to 2000 but was handed the starting shortstop job when Rafael Furcal went down in July 2001. DeRosa posted a .300-plus average as a starter, but his claim to the position ended when the Braves acquired Rey Sanchez from Kansas City later that month.
