Masayuki Dobashi

Pitching for Tokyo’s “other” team, the lackluster Toei Flyers, Dobashi never received the publicity accorded to stars of the crosstown rival Giants. That’s how the shy and guarded hurler preferred it. A deadpan stoic on the mound, the five-time 20-game winner notched a career-high 30 victories in 1961. From 1958 through 1964, he never worked fewer than 44 games or 263 innings a season.
