After six years roaming the NL and two with the Red Sox, Dwyer found a home in Baltimore in 1981. A DH, extra outfielder, and lefthanded pinch hitter, he set the Orioles’ career record for pinch homers. In his first World Series plate appearance, he homered off Philadelphia’s John Denny for Baltimore’s only run of Game One in 1983.
