Nemo Leibold

The 5’7″ 157-lb Leibold, nicknamed for the comic strip character Little Nemo, hit only four homers in 13 ML seasons but played on four pennant winners. He was a reliable fielder and a pesky hitter, particularly when platooned against righthanded pitchers. As a longtime minor league manager, he was notoriously bellicose. In 1946 he was suspended for the season after a shoving match with a minor league umpire. When he was reinstated before the end of the season, several umpires quit in protest.
