Jimmy Wasdell

From 1937 through 1941, Wasdell was a valued backup – a good outfielder, a smooth first baseman, and a dependable left-handed pinch hitter. Brooklyn dealt him in a December 12, 1941 package for Arky Vaughan, and he served as Pittsburgh’s starting left fielder in 1942. He played regularly with the Pirates and Phillies through the end of WWII.
