Jake Weimer

Weimer went 21-9 (2.30) as a rookie with the 1903 Cubs and 20-14 (1.91) the following year. But Chicago, pitching-rich and desperate to find a third baseman to round out their Tinker-to-Evers-to-Chance infield, sacrificed the hurler in a 1906 trade to Cincinnati for Harry Steinfeldt. After losing Weimer, the Cubs won an ML-record 116 games in ’06 and ran off three straight pennants. Weimer won 20 his first year with the Reds, then faded.
