Williams was just 16 years old when he broke in with Keokuk (Iowa State League). The utility man saw better than a quarter of his appearances as a pinch hitter but hit only .175 in that role lifetime. He spent all his time on the Senators (1912-16) backing up defensive specialist John “Bull” Henry.
