After two seasons of largely ineffectual relief for the Giants, Winters was packaged with Butch Henline, Curt Walker, and $30,000 in the trade that brought Irish Meusel to New York. Given a chance to start, he went 5-10 with a 3.63 ERA and was soon back in relief. He was mayor of Abilene, Texas in the 1950s.
