Johnny Keane

After 31 years in the Cardinals organization, Keane replaced Solly Hemus as manager midway through 1961. He led St. Louis to a World Championship in 1964 but, upset that friend and GM Bing Devine had been fired, resigned to manage the Yankees in 1965 in an arrangement made months prior to beating New York in the Series.

He took over a deteriorating Yankee team that finished below .500 for the first time since 1925. He was fired the next season after a 4-16 start.
