A sportswriter and columnist (“Clouting ‘Em”) for 40 years with the New York Telegram and its successors, King left in 1969 to become an assistant managing editor in Ridgewood, New Jersey. A longtime correspondent for The Sporting News, he wrote eleven books, including Batboy of the Giants.
