Randy Ready

The two-time minor league batting champion shuttled between Vancouver (Pacific Coast League) and the Brewers for three seasons, never hitting below .325 at Vancouver, before a 1986 trade brought him to San Diego. With the Padres, Ready excelled in a utility role, filling in whenever necessary in the infield or outfield. His career minor league batting average was .343. He set career highs in at-bats (350), home runs (12), and RBI (54) in 1988, but the following season was traded with John Kruk to the Philadelphia Phillies for Chris James.
