Dave Revering

With Tony Perez and Dan Dreissen to play first base, the Reds traded minor leaguer Revering to the A’s along with $1.75 million for Vida Blue in December 1977. After deliberating nearly two months, Commissioner Kuhn voided the deal for exceeding the two-year-old $400,000 limit on cash transactions. In February 1978, Revering was again traded to the A’s, this time for Doug Bair. He had three promising years with the A’s, hitting .271, .288, and .290, with 50 home runs, before injuries led to deep slumps, frequent trades, and a premature end to his career.
