Ed Romero

Romero was a handyman who could play any infield position, but never hit well enough to play regularly. The native Puerto Rican hit .317 in 145 at-bats with the Brewers in 1983, but never hit over .280 in any other major or minor league season. He finished his career with just eight home runs in 1,912 at-bats. Romero’s value was in his versatility — he filled in at second base, third base, and shortstop, and was very steady defensively at all of them.
