Wayne Tolleson

Tolleson broke into the ML as a fleet, slap-hitting infielder, starting at second base for the Rangers in 1983-84, then moving to shortstop in 1985, when he hit a career-high .313. He stole 33 bases in his first full season, and at least 17 each year until 1987, but has never hit for power, with only 76 extra-base hits in 2,108 ML at-bats through 1988. Tolleson was traded to the White Sox before the 1986 season, but played only 81 games in Chicago before being shipped to the Yankees with Ron Kittle and Joel Skinner for Ron Hassey. In college, Tolleson was an All-American wide receiver at Western Carolina, leading the nation in pass receptions his senior year.
