Joe Schultz, Jr.

At the age of thirteen, Schultz pinch-hit in a regular league game with Houston (Texas League). He was the batboy; his father, Joe Schultz Sr., was the manager. After a career as a back-up catcher, Schultz became a coach and minor-league manager. In his only full season as a major league manager, he led the expansion Seattle Pilots with a down-to-earth style affectionately chronicled in Jim Bouton‘s Ball Four.
