Bill Shettsline

Shettsline was in baseball for 44 years, beginning as a ticket seller for the Philadelphia team in the Union Association in 1884. He became assistant secretary of Phillies, and managed the team five years, finishing second in 1901. In 1902 he also managed a Phillies pro football team. He became the team’s business manager and then served as president from 1905 to 1915. He went back to being a business manager from 1915 to 1927, when he joined the A’s one year before retiring.
