Bob Smith

Smith spent two seasons as a good-fielding but light-hitting shortstop for the Braves before switching to the mound in 1925. By 1926 he was a regular starter for the second-division Braves. He had five straight losing seasons but won at least ten games each year. On May 17, 1927, he pitched a complete-game, 22-inning 4-3 loss to the Cubs for the fifth-longest pitching effort in ML history. Traded to the Cubs in 1931, he had his best season, 15-12. In 1933 he returned to the Braves, where he remained through 1937, pitching mostly in relief.
