Stratemeyer wrote articles, short stories, and books under many pen names, and in 1906 formed a syndicate that produced 700 books that sold in the millions, including the popular Tom Swift, Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, and Bobbsey Twins series. Under the name of Lester Chadwick he wrote the Baseball Joe series from 1912 to 1928.
