Larry Sutton

Sutton became one of baseball’s first full-time scouts when he joined the Dodgers in 1909. For many years as a semi-pro manager and umpire, he had recommended talent to ML clubs. He quickly discovered Zack Wheat for the Dodgers, and then spent single seasons with the Tigers, Phillies, and Reds before returning to the Dodgers from 1920 to 1936. He sent more than 100 players on their way to the ML.
