Becker was a fair fielder and a lefthanded batter who had trouble with southpaw pitching. His top year was 1914, when he hit .325 with 9 homers and 66 RBI for the Phillies. He played better on the road than at home, reportedly because he had “rabbit ears” and reacted to hometown heckling.
