Larry Bettencourt

A member of the College Football Hall of Fame, Bettencourt was a consensus All-America center at St. Mary’s College in 1927 when he scored 12 touchdowns on intercepted passes, blocked punts, and recovered fumbles. He signed a baseball contract with the St. Louis Browns for $6,000, then the largest bonus ever paid a rookie just out of school, but failed to stick in three ML trials. In 1933 he played pro football for the Green Bay Packers.
