Si Burick

Sports editor of the Dayton Daily News for 54 years, Burick won the J.G. Taylor Spink Award in 1982, the first writer from a city with no ML team to be so honored. He covered his first opening game in Cincinnati in 1929 and never missed one until his death. Burick wrote Alston of the Dodgers; The Main Spark, a biography of Sparky Anderson; and Byline: Si Burick, an anthology of his columns.
