Bobby Byrne

Pittsburgh’s August 1909 acquisition of the 5’7-1/2″ 145-lb infielder contributed key elements to the Pirates’ pennant drive, including allowing Tommy Leach to stay in center field. Byrne had his best season in 1910, leading the NL in doubles (43) and tying teammate Honus Wagner in hits (178).
