Gerry Janeski

Janeski tied for the International League lead with 15 wins at Louisville in 1969. When the White Sox traded Gary Peters and Don Pavletich to the Red Sox for Syd O’Brien and pitcher Billy Farmer that December, Janeski replaced Farmer when the latter was discovered to have a sore arm. Farmer was 10-17 for the White Sox in 1970, earning Chicago Rookie of the Year honors. Local sportswriters dubbed him The Wheat Germ Kid because his locker resembled a health food store.
