Roy Largent

Roy and his wife, Bessie, formed a unique husband-and-wife scouting tandem for the White Sox from 1924 to 1939. Roy was totally deaf, and Bessie would read his lips, serve as his ears, and drive the car on scouting trips. She eventually became a shrewd judge of talent herself. The Largents discovered over 100 eventual ML players, including Luke ApplingZeke Bonura, and Lon Warneke.
