Lelivelt was a bulky, slow-footed outfielder who became an outstanding minor league manager. He compiled a .331 minor league batting average from 1906 through 1925, the last five seasons as a playing manager. Over 21 seasons, his teams won 1861 games for a .564 percentage, including three Pacific Coast League titles.
