After graduating from Cornell, Lomax wrote for the Bronx Home News and the New York Journal-American and shared a 15-minute nightly sportscast with Ford Frick. When Frick became NL president in 1932, Lomax left the newspaper to do the radio show full-time and was heard on WOR from 1932 until his retirement in 1978.
