Marcum was the A’s ace during his two full years with them, and won 17 for their last-place 1935 club. He then went the way of most of Connie Mack‘s best – sold to the Red Sox, with Jimmie Foxx. Called “Footsie” for his big feet, Marcum was a lifetime .265 batter, used 99 times as a lefthanded pinch hitter.
