Al Worthington

Worthington pitched shutouts in his first two ML starts, 6-0 wins over the Pirates and Dodgers July 6 and 11, 1953, but was only a mediocre pitcher in six seasons with the Giants. He became a reliever exclusively in 1960 and with the Twins he blossomed into one of the AL’s best, saving 21 games in 1965 and a league-high 18 in 1968.
