The switch-hitting Sudakis homered for Los Angeles in his first major league game. The Dodgers’ third baseman in 1969, he was made a catcher and had won the everyday job in 1970 when he broke a finger. He became a versatile utilityman. More than one-third of Sudakis’s hits were for extra bases.
