Billy Maloney

Maloney went straight from the campus of Georgetown University to catch for Milwaukee of the AL in the league’s first year. He hit .293 but his work behind the plate was unsatisfactory. In 1904 he led the NL in stolen bases (59) while an outfielder with the Cubs. Traded with three others to the Dodgers for Jimmy Sheckard the next season, he failed to hit above .229 in three years as a regular.
