Billy Rohr

Starting against Hall of Famer Whitey Ford, Rohr made his ML debut with the Red Sox on Opening Day at Yankee Stadium, April 14, 1967, and was one strike away from a no-hitter when Elston Howard drilled a clean single to right-centerfield. The slender, 21-year-old lefthander retired the next batter for a shutout, then beat the Yankees again in his next start, 6-1, but would win only one more game in the ML after that.
