Charlie Chech

Using a puzzling curve and good control, Chech won a career-high 14 games as a rookie with the 1905 Reds. After Chech’s best season, 1908 (11-7, 1.74), the Indians traded him with Jack Ryan and $12,500 for 41-year-old Cy Young. Chech’s 2.95 ERA in 1909 was the sixth-worst in the AL among pitchers with 100 or more innings.
