Dale Murray

Murray was an outstanding Expo rookie in 1974, using his exploding fastball and diving forkball to record a 1.03 ERA and ten saves in 32 games. Despite missing a month of the 1975 season with hepatitis, he led NL relievers with 15 wins, and in 1976 he led the league with 81 appearances. He ran up a streak of 247.1 innings without allowing a home run, between August 18, 1974 and August 20, 1976 – the longest such streak since WWII. He was durable yet inconsistent after leaving Montreal, as overwork took the bite from his fastball. He spent much of 1980-81 and 1984-85 in Triple-A, but amassed 60 ML saves before a sciatica condition ended his career.
