Dick Starr

One of many Yankee prospects exiled to the Browns in exchange for the occasional competent St. Louis player, Starr was traded with two others and $100,000 in the 1949 deal that put Fred Sanford and Roy Partee in Yankee uniforms. Illness handicapped Starr, and Sanford, a flop in New York, was sent on to the Senators. In 1951 Starr was traded to Washington even up for Sanford.
