Pittsburgh’s Doug Baird and Max Carey were the NL’s best base-stealing tandem in 1915 and 1916. But Baird batted just .218 over those two seasons and fanned a league-high 88 times in ’15. In 1921 he broke an American Association record by stealing 72 bases for Indianapolis.
