Duke Farrell

A versatile switch hitter, Farrell broke in as a protege of Cap Anson, who discovered him as a semi-pro player while the White Stockings were barnstorming New England. With Boston of the American Association in 1891, Farrell had league highs of 12 HR and 110 RBI. He later led the NL in pinch hits three times, and pinch hit for the Boston Puritans (later Red Sox) in the first World Series in 1903. He was a Boston Brave scout until his death.
